Our play cabin anchors a large back yard renovation in Portland, OR. The structure sits as a focal point of play and imagination for the children. The structure provides a flexible space, outside of the house and with great views of the surrounding area. The upper level cargo net loft is a dreamy space that looks down on the green roofs, across the tree tops, and down to the space below. It serves as a sleep-over spot, a nap area, and reading nook for the kids. In the space below, several windows and a “screened” interior area off privacy, but also connection to the dynamic yard and landscape outside.
The structure is a raw space, with exposed framing. This leaves opportunity for adjustment and expansion over time, as needs change. Nooks create space for shelves, planters, and knick-knacks. A folding desk provides space for the kids to work, or for the parents to utilize the space if desired. A low voltage lighting system with dimmers throughout and USB plugs provides power to the space.
The project was entirely pre-built in our shop space in Olney, OR and then re-assembled on site for minimal installation time.
